The Revolution and the Fall of Oceana: How Diansu's Own Armour Gave Him Away

The Revolution is the arc where Content SMP briefly becomes a war story, and it turns on one of the better technical details in the whole series: a man is hunted across the map because his own armour is broadcasting.

The window

Winsweep, Noxintrus and Talon are stranded in Neverend for six months. That's Oceana's fighting strength, gone.

Luxintrus uses it. She rallies the neutral members of the server — the ones who never picked a side through the Masquerade or the World's Faire — and takes Markhett back. Diansu's forces retreat to Oceana.

Then she offers a peace treaty.

That's worth pausing on. Having won the opening move, her next act is to try to end it. Diansu refuses, and escapes with Viceroy Boolean in AmyMialee's yacht.

Everything that follows is because he said no.

The Invictus Engine

Diansu and Viceroy Boolean go to Wee Sir Island and begin building the Invictus Engine, constructing the Invictus Assembly.

While Diansu is showing Viceroy around the settlement, Mouthpiece arrives and offers them a deal.

Diansu forcefully turns it down.

Set that against everyone else's record with Mouthpiece. The Mason contracted with The Seven and died at Bonesburrow. Winsweep took the Lesser Divinity and lost everything he had a claim to. Luxintrus's contract was transferred away along with her arm.

Diansu is the one person in the story who is offered a deal and refuses it outright. He still loses — but he loses on his own terms, and he's the only major player who does.

The electromagnetic problem

To fund the assembly, Diansu starts siphoning materials from Spawn and Markhett. That gets Luxintrus's attention, and she starts following him invisibly.

It escalates when he tries to take a beacon from Markhett. He shoots her with a comatose dart and returns to Wee Sir Island — then realises he's been followed home, and runs.

And here's the problem: no matter how far he runs, she finds him.

The cause is Elysium armour. Its electromagnetic properties are trackable, and Diansu is wearing the technology his own nation built. The thing that made Oceana militarily superior is the thing giving away its leader's position.

That's a genuinely good piece of writing. Oceana's whole identity is technological advantage — Elysium tech is what Diansu showed off at the World's Faire before declaring war. The advantage is the vulnerability.

The ambush and the shot

With Wee Sir Island compromised, Diansu strikes back. He supplements the assembly with a beacon from Oceana's factory, uses Viceroy Boolean as bait, and ambushes everyone who arrives via the Elysium tracker.

It works. It goes exactly to plan.

Until a shot of brimstone takes out Diansu Invictus.

The duel

After the battle, Luxintrus challenges Diansu to a duel to decide the server: Oceana reclaims what it lost, or Diansu is wiped off the map for good.

Both bring an artefact.

Luxintrus reveals The Dusk's Epitaph. Diansu reveals the Grimore Ex Moriya, which he stole from Gitaly.

Diansu is defeated and permanently killed. Viceroy Boolean takes control of Oceana.

What it means

Oceana survives its founder. That's the part people skip. The nation isn't destroyed — it changes hands. Viceroy Boolean, who was there when the idea was first proposed after the Masquerade and who spent the arc being used as bait, inherits it.

The Dusk's Epitaph enters play. It wins Luxintrus a duel here. It fails against Mouthpiece in Operation: Kill Mouthpiece, which ends with her Charter contract transferred to RAT and her arm gone. An artefact that kills a nation's leader and can't touch an entity tells you where Mouthpiece sits on this server's ladder.

Luxintrus ends the arc as the closest thing to a victor. She rallied the neutrals, retook Markhett, offered peace, hunted a head of state across the map, and won a duel for the fate of the server.

Then Winsweep comes back from Neverend, and The Funeral happens.
